Goal: The goal of this course is to understand how power system components are modeled, and to apply these models in the analysis, design, and operation of modern power systems.
Catalog Data: ECE 473 / 573 Power System Analysis I.
Three-phase AC systems, generators, transformers, transmission lines, one-line diagrams, per-unit system, network calculations, power-flow studies, power-flow control and regulation. PREREQ: ECE 212. COREQ: ECE 300.

Homework:
- SMATH Studio and MATLAB will be used to illustrate equation based calculations and algorithms for power system analysis.
- Homework will be assigned weekly on Tuesday, and will be due in class on the Thursday one week and two days after it is assigned. No credit will be given to homework received after the due date.
- PowerWorld will be used to illustrate the operation and control of modern power systems.
- Flexibility for turning in homework and taking tests will be given if you let me know in advance.
